the library

In the UK there was nothing better than cosying up in a dark, book lined library with the fire crackling away, big old comfy chairs & the Sunday papers.... these dark mahogany lined rooms don't work so well in the brighter homes of Australia, however, while doing some research for a client, I came across these study come library come time out spaces..... that would do the trick

just loved the lines & feel of this library.....

library in Tasmanian house by Stamp Interiors

It is always a pleasure working with existing pieces, giving an established house a bit of a make over without loosing its soul. Here are some images (again not brilliant, I am going to have to stop taking them with my iphone and start again with my camera....) of a library in a house in Tasmania. We wanted warmth and comfort without being slouchy, and the bright colours have given a South facing room a bit of cheer - especially on those long winter nights.......

Charlotte Coote

It is not often that you come across 'raw' talent. So much of what I see is very fashion led and similar to what is in current magazines - which all has its place, however, it is a look that becomes very samey quickly - i.e the recent French Provincial look and the current geometric phase. Then there are people like Charlotte. Charlotte is both an interior decorator and a furniture designer. Her pieces are beautifully designed under the influence of her father - John Coote the world reknown interiors expert. Charlotte has recently opened up a showroom around the corner from me in Armadale and I love popping in to see her beautiful linens and to see what stunning pieces she is showcasing.

sneaky pic through the window of the showroom. not the best photography - sorry!
