library in Tasmanian house by Stamp Interiors

It is always a pleasure working with existing pieces, giving an established house a bit of a make over without loosing its soul. Here are some images (again not brilliant, I am going to have to stop taking them with my iphone and start again with my camera....) of a library in a house in Tasmania. We wanted warmth and comfort without being slouchy, and the bright colours have given a South facing room a bit of cheer - especially on those long winter nights.......

Charlotte Coote

It is not often that you come across 'raw' talent. So much of what I see is very fashion led and similar to what is in current magazines - which all has its place, however, it is a look that becomes very samey quickly - i.e the recent French Provincial look and the current geometric phase. Then there are people like Charlotte. Charlotte is both an interior decorator and a furniture designer. Her pieces are beautifully designed under the influence of her father - John Coote the world reknown interiors expert. Charlotte has recently opened up a showroom around the corner from me in Armadale and I love popping in to see her beautiful linens and to see what stunning pieces she is showcasing.

sneaky pic through the window of the showroom. not the best photography - sorry!

fabulous fabrics recently found

there is nothing better to brighten up a room than some stunning fabrics - whether it be a whole sofa or a small scatter cushion. a good fabric instantly adds life and a bit of personality. while i have been doing a townhouse in central Brisbane (the carpet is going down now so we should get some pictures in a couple of weeks!) the brief was plain and cool. we have been able to create this to stunning effect & I just thought I would show you some of the amazing discoveries I found along the way........ all very inspiring & exciting (& some not so cooool!)

wandering around....

as i moseyed around my local area today i started snapping some of the great & inspiring things around me. i love seeing how clever people are, & it is often the small things that make things that make you do a double take.

i saw these fabulous teaspoons in a shop window

this looks like it is one of the original beetles - and with original number plates. i love the smooth lines, the indicator lights near the top of the door and the wheel hubs. Great car

it is a bit hard to see with the reflection in the window..... but the wall hanging - this is made out of plastic bottle tops! fantastic idea & great coffee - Sardine, by Kings Arcade

this clever shop owner uses her bike as extra display room. i love these old pashley bicycles

our fruit bowl bursting with apples my ma bought over from tasmania. next stop the saucepan to be stewed for freddie's breakfast weet-bix

i love the greenery in this shop window

i love the sardine bin! again a bit hard to see through the glass window.......sorry

bathrooms and bathroom bits!

I have been looking at all things bathroom recently & have come across these gems! There are so many fantastic colours & concepts that can push the boundaries of the a typical bathroom. Once upon a time it was the quirky or slightly naughty picture that was in the 'downstairs loo' or perhaps a much loved & powerful wallpaper that was rioting the bathroom beneath the stairs so that all other walls could be a safe shade of white.......
